5 Quick Fixes to Get You Home Ready for Summer

Can you feel it? Summer is just around the corner, and that means it’s time to get your home prepared and primed for the season ahead. For some of us, that might mean doing something as small as cleaning up your space, or for others incorporating a beach theme into your décor or breaking out your poolside accessories.

Below are 5 easy ideas you can do to get your home (and you) in the mood for summer.

1. Refresh your décor
In much the same way as we decorate for Christmas and other holidays, you could consider decorating for summer. Bringing in summer-themed décor – pineapple lamps, palm tree printed cushions, a bowl of shells, coconut-scented candles. This will quickly change the space around you.

2. Change your fruit bowl
Adding summer fruits to your fruit bowl is a quick way to give your kitchen a summery vibe. In general, these fruits are in season in summer and make for a decorative touch: melons, mangoes, oranges, nectarines, plums, cherries, passion fruit and pineapple. YUM!

3. Set up your outdoor space
Once warm weather kicks in, you’ll probably want to spend as much time outdoors as possible, especially if you’re stuck in the office during the week. Creating the perfect outdoor retreat now is essential, that way you can relax when the time comes.

4. Make the bed
If you haven’t already, now is the time to remove the bulk from your bed. Think heavy winter quilts, extra blankets, etc. and give it a fresh new look for the season ahead. Crisp, bright white sheets have an inherently summery vibe, so start there.

5. Plant a herb garden
In summer, many of us tend to lean towards fresh and easy-to-make meals. After all, no one wants to be slaving over an oven when it’s sweltering outside. Your very own herb garden will go a long way when you’re putting together a quick summer salad or barbecuing.
