From the Studio – Steampunk Clock

Steampunk is an inspired movement of creativity and imagination. With a backdrop of either Victorian England or America’s Wild West at hand, modern technologies are re-imagined and realised as elaborate works of art, fashion, and mechanics.  If Jules Verne or H.G. Wells were writing their science fiction today, it would be considered “steampunk.”

This working glass clock is inspired by this creative movement, spanning a massive 1350mm wide and 1400mm in height. It is fixed with 20 separate cogs which surrounds the main clock face. The entire clock, including the cogs are slumped in the kiln taking on the intricate detail of the hand cut patterns beneath, giving each piece its form and shape. Each cog is meticulously custom painted with a variety of paint washes and other applications including gold leaf in various tones.
